Benefits

Why is sensory play so important to a Child's development?

Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain's pathways, which lead to the child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills and social interaction.

In addition it can calm a hyperactive or anxious child improving their concentration and cognitive skills

What is the result of sensory play?

Children gain a deeper understanding of the world around them, the differences in touch, smell, sound and they learn to understand their bodies better.

How does sensory play help cognitive development?

In sensory play experiences, combining the sense of touch with the senses of vision, hearing, taste and smell helps build cognitive skills.

What is the point of sensory bins and boxes?

Sensory bins and boxes are hands-on tools for children to explore their world through senses. Sensory play may calm, focus, and engage a child.

In our experience not only do our boxes make ideal learning tools, improving a child's cognitive skills but also our kids find them fun. It's not uncommon for us to have to continually check on them as they are unusually quiet for a considerable length of time meaning we can tackle that chore or drink that cup of coffee!
